New Acquisition: 41 ft Wooden Sailing Yacht "New Moon"

T
he previous bulkhead replacement is still uninstalled almost a year later. I am finally getting around to it but with the specific puspose of selling the Laguna Windrose.

I took a road trip this past summer. I drove from Phoenix through the Midwest and South USA to Montreal and back AND then from Phoenix to British Columbia and back clocking 18,000 miles on my 2001 Porsche Boxster.

While in the San Francisco Bay Area on my way home (August 2018) I found and bought the 41' wooden sailing yacht "New Moon". It was berthed in the Vallejo Yacht Club, Vallejo, CA and was owned by Captain Chris Chesbrough, a professional Captain and Marine Surveyor. On Labor Day, September 3, 2018, we (Captain Chris, myself and my friend Judy) moved the boat upriver to the Driftwood Marina on the Oakley side of the Antioch Bridge, Oakley, CA. She is berthed there now and I will be staying on her for the summers to come. She is operatable and I will, in usual fashion, be upgrading and refurbishing her.

The sail up river was from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, 30 miles on the tide (1 knot) with the Westerlies (12 knots). We made an average of 8 knots under sail alone using the Perkins Diesel 4.107 to get in and out of the marinas.
